Twin-Eyes Mallory

Watches Both Doors

"I don't blink. Somebody around here has to keep looking."

Found: Bottom shelf, behind the paint thinner ยท Filed 1986

  • Cannot be photographed from the left
  • Insists the workshop has a fourth wall no one else can see
  • Keeps two of everything, in case one of her misses it
  • Twin galvanized pipe elbows, eyes
  • Rusted rigging shackles, arms
  • Circuit breaker housing, torso
  • Bent flashing, plinth

Mallory arrived in two halves, three years apart. The elbows first, still threaded together, still refusing to unscrew. The shackles came later, in a coffee tin marked 'MISC, DO NOT SORT.'

When we finally set the pieces on the same plate, the second eye rotated a quarter turn on its own. We took that as consent.
