File No. 058

Old Breaker

Cut the Circuit, Kept the Argument

"I have opinions about current. Most of them are correct."

Found: In a panel that had been dead since the second Reagan administration · Filed 2012

Quirks

• Refuses to be photographed in color
• Throws a small spark when someone raises their voice
• Keeps the twin panels beside him. Won't say if they're brothers or wardrobe.

Parts

• Bakelite terminal block, head
• Brass Phillips screws, eyes
• Twin steel arms with ring terminals, arms
• Cast aluminum breaker housing, torso
• Two matched panel covers, companions (not detachable)

Origin

Old Breaker was still bolted into the panel when we cut him out. The panel had been dead for forty years. Old Breaker had not.

He came home with the two side panels because he would not leave without them. They have not been separated since.
